U.S. stocks make gains, oil jumps over 2% |

Wall Street traded higher on Tuesday as oil prices jumped. The Dow Jones was up 0.91% to 17,689 points (5:46 p.m. CET) with only one stock being in the red. Walt Disney Company shares declined 0.55% to $106.67 (5:47 p.m. CET) after the latest Star Wars movie broke a record as the fastest movie to earn $1 billion at the box office. The Nasdaq 100 rose 1.18% to 4,676 points (5:49 p.m. CET), headed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals Inc. that rocketed 4% to $128.92 (5:50 p.m. CET). It was followed by Amazon that jumped 2.17% to $691.21 (5:51 p.m. CET) after the company reported a ‘record-setting’ holiday season for Prime on Monday. The S&P 500 traded 0.80% higher at 2,074 points (6:14 p.m. CET). Oil jumped over 2%. Brent crude for January delivery gained 2.26% to $37.97 a barrel (6:05 p.m. CET) and WTI oil for January delivery rose 2.42% to $37.63 a barrel (6:03 p.m. CET). |
