Europe opens mixed

Markets in Europe opened mixed on Thursday following mixed sentiment from Asia and continuously low oil prices on record high output.

The pan-European Stoxx 50 traded 0.15% up at 9:08 a.m. CET. However, energy companies continued to trade lower on increased crude stocks in the U.S. and OPEC production levels.

The DAX increased 0.31% at 9:09 a.m. CET, led by pharmaceuticals. Meanwhile, Thyssenkrupp AG and RWE AG were the biggest losers of the index after their quarterly reports were published shortly before the market open, falling 2.77% and 3.66%, respectively at 9:11 a.m. CET.

France’s CAC 40 was 0.47% higher at 9:09 a.m. CET.

The FTSE 100 opened 0.26% lower.
