German prosecutors doubt Islamists behind bus blast

The German prosecution expressed serious doubts over the authenticity of letters found at the scene of the attack at the bus of Borussia Dortmund football team, local media reported on Friday, citing investigation sources.

Three identical letters printed in German were discovered near the site of the attack on April 11, which stated that the bus blast was carried out "in the name of Allah," media reports revealed. However, the prosecution believes that the letters could be written in order to trick people into thinking there was an Islamist militant motive behind the incident, according to a report commissioned by investigators.

The notes demanded a withdrawal of German Tornado jets from Syria and the closing of United States Ramstein Air Base in southwestern Germany, local media stated.
