Asian markets higher on trade deal optimism

Major markets in the Asia-Pacific region were higher on Wednesday as investors digested reports on trade negotiations between Beijing and China nearing final stages. On the data front, figures showed that China's service sector improved in March.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 ended the session 0.94% higher, while the South Korean Kospi Composite increased 0.86%. China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.69% at 7:44 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite increased 0.22% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.88% at 7:46 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went up 0.68%.

The US dollar gained 0.05% against the Japanese yen to change hands for 111.38at 7:47 am CET.
