Asian markets mixed ahead of trade talks outcome

Markets in the Asia-Pacific region were mixed on Thursday as investors searched for clues on the future of United States-China trade agreement. According to media reports, market watchers will be awaiting a possible announcement by US President Donald Trump regarding plans for the summit with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping. Previously, US Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue stated that talks between Beijing and Washington were down to their "last few days."

The Japanese Nikkei 225 ended the session flat, while the South Korean Kospi Composite increased 0.20%. China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.48% at 7:55 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite rose 0.21% at the same time. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell 0.52% at 7:57 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 went down 0.83%.

The US dollar lost 0.07% against the Japanese yen to change hands for 111.41 at 8:03 am CET.
