Platinum eyes 10-month high, gold drops

Precious metals traded mixed on Friday as platinum approached a value unseen in 10 months after it hit fresh highs yesterday. Gold erased gains from the previous session, eyeing a 10-week low, but still floating above. Meanwhile, investors will search for more clues on the strength of the economy as United States jobs data is due later during the day.

Gold lost 0.24% to $1,288.86 per one troy ounce at 11:05 am CET, while silver advanced 0.10% to $15.16. Meanwhile, palladium plunged 2.74% to $1,329.44 at 8:07. Platinum jumped 0.82% to go for $905.62, after reaching levels unseen in almost 10 months.
