German multinational conglomerate Siemens announced on Wednesday its revenue in the second fiscal quarter of 2019 increased by 4% annually to reach €20.9 billion, led by strong growth across most sectors and clear revenue gains at Siemens Healthineers, Process Industries and Drives and SGRE. Net income in the same quarter benefited from sharply lower income tax expenses to arrive at €1.9 billion, 5% lower than a year ago. Earnings-per-share (EPS) were down 6% year-on-year to reach €2.24.

Siemens' orders grew 6% to €23.6 billion led by strong growth in the Mobility sector, with a record-high order backlog of €142 billion and a book-to-bill ratio of 1.13.

"We delivered on our promises again this quarter, and even exceeded expectations in many areas. Now, we enter into a new era to become an even stronger and more focused Siemens," Joe Kaeser, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens, said.
