Stocks in Asia-Pacific higher with trade in focus

Equities on major stock markets in East Asia and the Pacific region were higher in the Wednesday afternoon trade despite ongoing tensions between the world's two largest economies. The United States Treasury Department announced the department head Steven Mnuchin will plan to visit China "soon" to continue trade negotiations.

In Mainland China, Shanghai Composite jumped 1.46% at 7:29 am CET while the Shenzhen Composite spiked 1.85% a minute later. At the same time, Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased 0.75%.

Japan's Nikkei 225 rose 0.17% at 7:30 am CET. The dollar was little changed against the yen at 7:29 am CET, buying ¥109.6540.

In South Korea, the Kospi Composite gained 0.59% at 7:11 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 added 0.80% at 7:30 am CET.
