Apple recalls MacBook Pro models due to battery issues

United States tech giant Apple Inc. is recalling some of its older 15-inch MacBook Pro models with batteries that "may overheat and pose a safety risk," it announced in a press release on Thursday.

The company said that the units that are being recalled were mainly between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by their product serial number. It also provided a website where customers may enter their computer's serial number to check if they are eligible for battery replacements, which will be carried out free of charge. It added that the recall does not affect any other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or other Mac notebooks.

Apple previously recalled in April three-prong wall plug adapters manufactured for the British, Hong Kong and Singaporean markets from 2003 to 2010 after they caused at least six incidents. The alternating current (AC) devices were used by Mac computers and products running on iOS.
