Asian markets mixed as US starts issuing Huawei licenses

Asian markets traded mixed on Wednesday as investors focused on the impact of the trade war between China and the United States after Chinese data showed that inflation in the country increased to 2.7% and US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross announced his department will start issuing licenses to Huawei. The US economy will remain the topic of the day as Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is set to testify in Congress.

In China, the Shanghai Composite and the Shenzhen Composite decreased 0.054% and 0.39%, respectively, at 7:43 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.22% at 7:44 am CET.

The Nikkei 225 traded 0.10% lower at 4:41 am CET and South Korea's Kospi jumped 0.58% at 7:45 am CET.

The S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.39% at 7:45 am CET.

The dollar was flat against the yen, trading 0.02% higher at 108.8765 at 7:46 am CET.
