Asian markets mixed with trade in focus

Major stock markets in East Asia and the Pacific region traded mostly higher on Friday with trade in focus. United States President Donald Trump claimed the goal of the tariffs on Chinese imports was to "level the playing field" and not to hurt the biggest Asian economy. Washington offered to mediate trade negotiations between Japan and South Korea. On data, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reported industrial production in the country dropped 2.1% in May on an annual basis.

In Mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was 0.54% above the flatline at 7:36 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite jumped 0.69% a minute later. Hong Kong's Hang Seng was 0.36% higher at 7:36 am CET.

Japanese Nikkei 225 dropped 0.12% at 7:33 am CET. The dollar fell 0.17% against the yen, to go for ¥108.3070 at 7:37 am CET.

South Korean Kospi Composite gained 0.26% at 7:18 am CET. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 decreased 0.19% 7:36 am CET.
