Wall Street opens lower amid trade tensions

Wall Street opened lower on Monday as trade war concerns continued to influence investor sentiment. Earlier in the day, Treasury prices soared and oil prices decreased. On Sunday, Goldman Sachs said it revised its US gross domestic product (GDP) expectations downward.

The Dow fell 0.66% in the first minute of trading. Goldman Sachs Group Inc decreased by 1.76% and JPMorgan Chase & Co was down 1.75%, both at 9:32 am ET.

The Nasdaq 100 lost 0.59% at 9:30 am ET. Argentine e-commerce firm MercadoLibre Inc. listed on the exchange led the losses as it dropped 12.41% at 9:40 am ET.

The S&P 500 declined 0.45% at 9:31 am ET as Nektar Therapeutics fell 9.08% at 9:49 am ET.

The euro gained 0.16% at 9:50 am ET against the dollar to go for 1.12169. The greenback fell 0.47% to 105.2185 against the yen at 9:50 am ET and the pound was 0.54% in the green compared to the US currency, going for 1.20908 at 9:51 am ET.
