Officials from the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) have expressed concern about the Trump administration's plans to put the two agencies in charge of regulating content on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, CNN reported on Thursday citing people close to the matter.

According to the sources, FCC and FTC officials are worried President Donald Trump's plan may be "unconstitutional" as it violates the First Amendment by appointing a government "speech police."

Earlier, media reported that Trump is considering issuing an executive order which calls for the FCC to come up with regulations for clarifying how and when the law protects social media companies when they decide to remove or suppress content on their platforms, as well as to oversee claims of partisan censorship on those websites.
