Former Google self-driving vehicles engineer Anthony Levandowski was indicted and arrested on Tuesday, CNBC reported. The United States Department of Justice alleges that Levandowski stole intellectual property (IP) from Alphabet Inc.'s self-driving subsidiary Waymo Llc.

Levandowski reportedly downloaded confidential files and trade secrets, including blueprints, design files, and testing documentation concerning Google's autonomous vehicle technology before resigning from the Waymo and starting his own company, named Otto. Otto was later acquired by Uber Technologies Inc.

Last year, Uber and Waymo reached a settlement in an industrial espionage dispute involving Levandowski, valued at around $245 million. Uber announced it will continue to cooperate in the ongoing investigation.
