Wall Street opens lower, Dow drops 100 pts

United States stocks opened in the red on Wednesday as the Treasury yield curve inverted even further to reach its worst level since 2007. Trade tensions also showed no signs of abating as US National Security Adviser John Bolton said that his country still had "significant" differences over trade with China.​ In other news, investors awaited the release of EIA crude oil stock data for the US after the opening bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 0.43% or 106 points as Intel Corp. tumbled 0.66% while the Nasdaq 100 fell 0.75% after Autodesk Inc. nosedived 13.30%. The S&P 500 was 0.46% lower on the back of Activision Blizzard Inc's losses of 1.86%.

The euro was down 0.07% against the dollar to change hands for 1.1083 at 9:29 am ET.
