Dow jumps 300 pts on trade optimism

The Dow was up by over 300 points on Thursday after United States President Donald Trump announced that trade talks with China "at a different level" are scheduled for today, although he did not reveal details. Earlier in the day, China's Commerce Ministry urged for a de-escalation of trade tensions with the US, noting that the two countries are in discussions about possible trade negotiations next month.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index added 304 points, or 1.17% at 11:33 am ET. The best performer was Intel, followed by JPMorgan and UTC.

The Nasdaq 100 increased 1.57% at 11:34 am ET, led by American Airlines rise of 4.64%. Chipmakers Nvidia, Micron, Western Digital and Xilinx were also among the best performers on the tech-heavy index.

The S&P 500 advanced 1.25% at 11:36 am ET. Dollar General surged around 9%.
