State attorney generals in the United States will launch antitrust probes into major tech companies like Facebook and Alphabet.

On Friday, New York Attorney General Letitia James said her office is starting a multi-state widespread investigation into social media giant Facebook. "We will use every investigative tool at our disposal to determine whether Facebook’s actions may have endangered consumer data, reduced the quality of consumers’ choices, or increased the price of advertising," she stated.

Meanwhile, the Google probe is expected to be announced on Monday, the Wall Street Journal reported, adding that about three dozen states will participate in the effort. The investigation will be led by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, sources said.
