Pound falls as DUP refuses to back Brexit deal

The British pound dropped on Thursday after the Northern Irish DUP announced it cannot support the suggested Brexit deal. The DUP voiced concerns over proposals "on customs and consent issues," as well as the "lack of clarity" on VAT, but noted it will continue talks with the United Kingdom government.

Sterling fell 0.55% against the dollar to go for 1.27596 at 8:20 am CET and lost 0.54% compared to the yen to sell for 138.75850 at the same time. Meanwhile, the euro rose 0.53% against the British currency to change hands for 0.86776 at 8:21 am CET.
