Booking's Q3 revenue up 4% YoY to $5B

Booking Holdings Inc.'s revenue in the third quarter rose 4% year over year to $5 billion, the company announced on Thursday. The company said its earnings per share for the second quarter of the year was $46.01, up 23% on an annual basis. The company said its net income for the period amounted to $2 billion, 10% higher compared to the three month period in 2018.

Room nights booked in the third quarter increased 11% to 223 million. Car rental days rose 9% to 21 million, while the number of airline tickets sold fell 2% to 2 million.

"Booking Holdings executed well in our busiest quarter of the year as we booked 223 million room nights, which is up 11% year-over-year. Our third-quarter financial results highlight our meaningful size and scale that we intend to leverage as we invest against a very large global travel market opportunity," Booking CEO Glenn Fogel said.

Booking's shares fell 8% during the aftermarket trade.
