Facebook Inc. said on Friday it will remove the content that mentions the name of the whistleblower in the impeachment inquiry into United States President Donald Trump. Revealing the name of the whistleblower is considered a violation of the Community Standards and Policies, the company added.

California-based social network giant acknowledged that the decision will be reconsidered if the media or public figures start using the person's name.

Previously, Donald Trump and the House Republicans urged several times the whistleblower to reveal their identity and testify in person. However, the attorney to the whistleblower said his client is ready to answer the Republicans' questions in writing which the president deemed unacceptable.
