Senators: Zuckerberg must explain location tracking

United States Senators Josh Hawley and Chris Coons sent a letter to Facebook Inc.'s CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday asking him to explain how the company collects location data through the updated iOS and Android operating systems.

Earlier this year, both companies updated their operating systems in order to better protect their users' privacy regarding their location. However, Facebook said in its blog published at the time that even if the user doesn't agree with Facebook collecting location data, the tech giant still can determine the user's location through other sources such as IP addresses.

Hawley and Coons asked Zuckerberg to explain how the data is gathered and whether it is given to third parties or used to target ads.
