US markets close lower amid China trade concerns

Equities on Wall Street closed the trading session with losses on Thursday as investors analyzed the newest developments in relations between Washington and Beijing. A meeting between the House Democrats and United States Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer did not result in an agreement to continue the ratification process of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index dropped 0.20% at the close. 3M Co. was the worst performer, losing 1.60%.

The Nasdaq 100 was 0.22% lower. Capital equipment company KLA Corp. declined the most, 6.96%.

The S&P 500 dipped 0.16%. E-Trade Financial Corp. led the losses, plunging 9.33%.

The euro and the pound were both flat compared to the dollar at 16:02 am ET, going for 1.10579 and 1.29064, respectively.
