Facebook sues ILikeAd for ad fraud

Facebook said on Thursday it has sued ILikeAd Media International Company for allegedly using Facebook ad platform in order to run a malware scheme. The Hong Kong-based company is accused of baiting people into clicking fake advertising links so it could install malware and run ads for counterfeit goods and food supplements.

Facebook’s filing said the malware was programmed to find out if a compromised account was set up to run ads and then to place ads that were "billed to the victim’s ad account."

Since April, the California-based social media giant has been warning hundreds of thousands of users of their accounts being possibly compromised.
