Germany: Russia must clarify murder in Berlin

Sunday, 08. December 2019 12:33

Germany's Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (pictured) stated that Moscow has to clarify the situation regarding the murder of a Georgian citizen in Berlin in August.

In an interview for Bild am Sonntag published on Sunday, she added that the German authorities need to come up with a response to the crime, for which they are accusing Russia.

Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, an ethnic Chechen who fought against Russia in the Second Chechen War, was shot twice in the head on 23 August in a park in the German capital. The Foreign Ministry in Moscow and Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechayev both commented earlier in the week that the allegations by Berlin against their government are baseless and politically motivated.
