YouTube announced on Wednesday several measures to update its policy regarding harassment on the platform.

Google LLC's subsidiary said that harassment will not be tolerated as it is preventing honest debates and expressing opinions. Several experts have been consulted with on the issue.

One of the measures aimed to prevent and subdue abusive behavior is to "not only prohibit explicit threats, but also veiled or implied threats," and to update the platform's hate speech policy. Also, channels that consistently violate the harassment policy will be suspended and not be able to earn on Youtube. Systems have been adjusted to "catch truly toxic comments, not just anything that's negative or critical."
