Wall Street closes in green after US, China reportedly reach deal

Stocks on Wall Street closed the trading session in the green on Thursday after it was reported that United States trade officials have reached a trade deal in principle with China, pending signing by the US President Donald Trump. Earlier today, it was reported that Washington offered to reduce tariffs on $360 billion worth of Chinese imports by half and eliminate tariffs supposed to be implemented on December 15, while Trump revealed on Twitter that the US is nearing a "big deal" with Beijing.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index jumped 0.79% at the closing bell. Cisco Systems was the best performer, rising by 3.14%.

The Nasdaq 100 was 0.77% higher at the end of the trading session. Wynn Resorts Limited soared by 9.47%, while also leading the gains at the S&P 500, which increased by 0.86% at the close.

The euro lost 0.06% to the dollar, trading at 1.11325 at 3:59 pm ET, while the pound was flat against the US currency, going for 1.31710 at 4:00 pm ET.
