Asia trades mixed after economic data

Asian markets traded mixed on Friday as investors digested the latest economic news from the region. On the data front, Japan's annual inflation was recorded higher at 0.5%, but still well below the Bank of Japan's target of 2%. Meanwhile, China's central bank kept its lending benchmark unchanged as expected.

In South Korea, the Kospi Composite added 0.38% at 4:17 am CET. Over in China, the Shanghai Composite gained 0.19% at 4:30 am CET as the Shenzhen Composite was flat.

The Nikkei 225 was down 0.05% following the break, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was 0.22% in the red at 4:36 am CET. Hong Kong's Hang Seng climbed 0.37% at 4:38 am CET.

At 4:40 am CET, the dollar was up 0.05% against the yen, going for ¥109.337.
