Alphabet reached market capitalization of $1 trillion for the first time ever on Thursday. The move in the company's price makes Google's parent the fourth firm from the United States to hit the valuation.

In 2018, Apple reached $1 trillion, making it the first US company to hit the mark. It was later followed by Amazon and Microsoft.

Alphabet shares ended 0.76% in the green on Thursday, and finished at $1,450.16 per share. Minutes before the closing bell, Alphabet hit its all-time high of $1,450.70 per share.
