Wall Street opens lower as Dow falls more than 400 pts

Stocks on Wall Street started trading lower on Monday. Investors are still watching the ongoing coronavirus situation and possible vaccine development. The latest reports said the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to make a vaccine against 2019-nCoV coronavirus that causes pneumonia. Also, Russia’s Deputy Health Minister Sergei Krayevoy confirmed that the ministry is trying to make an efficient vaccine against the virus and is cooperating with the Chinese scientists as well.

Meanwhile, investors are also waiting for the United States Census Bureau to release the number of new home sales.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 1.81% and by 442 points with Dow Inc. falling 3.50%. The Nasdaq 100 went down by 2.34% as Trip.com Group Limited decreased by 4.83%. The S&P 500 slipped 1.78% as well with Discover Financial Services slumping by 11.14%.

The euro stood flat against the greenback at 9:32 am ET to go for 1.10228.
