Dow plummets 1,400 pts, 20% down from record high

Wall Street indices extended losses on Wednesday after the World Health Organization called the coronavirus outbreak a "global pandemic." The viral disease has accelerated its spreading in Europe and the United States, leading to cancelations of public gatherings and events, as well as impositions of state of emergency on regional and national levels.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures lost 1,390 points, or 5.53% at 7:35 pm ET, after briefly going down over 1,400 points. It is now down about 20% from the record high reached last month. The biggest loser was Boeing, sinking 15%.

The S&P 500 tanked 4.88% with Norwegian Cruise Line diving over 22%. The Nasdaq was down 4.58%, pulled by Expedia's fall of over 11%.
