Dow falls 3K at close as WH issues COVID-19 guidelines

Stocks in the United States ended sharply lower on Monday as the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 2,999 points amid extended fears among invetors on the economic impact of the global coronavirus pandemic. Shortly before the bell, the US issued new, stricted guidelines on COVID-19 prevention.

The Dow finished 12.94% in the red and hit three-year lows, recording its worst day since 1987. Boeing fell 23.85% at the closing bell. The Nasdaq 100 plummeted 12.19% at the end of the day and Ulta Beauty fell 21.98%. The S&P 500 dropped 11.98%. It was led lower by MGM Resorts International which plunged 33.61%.

The euro increased 0.56% to 1.11686 against the dollar at 4:02 pm ET.
