NYSE president predicts 'very strong' H2 of 2020

Wednesday, 17. June 2020 19:14

New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) President Stacey Cunningham (pictured, right) said on Wednesday that initial public offerings (IPO) are increasing as the restrictions imposed due to the coronavirus pandemic are easing.

"It looks like it’s shaping up to be a very strong second half of the year," Cummingham told CNBC. She also commented on the recent court decision that ruled that the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) cannot order the stocks to experiment with trading fees saying that such a request was "outside of the regular authority of the SEC." She stressed, however, that the NYSE maintains a "great working relationship" with them.

Major Wall Street stock markets opened higher earlier in the day as the optimism about the end of the pandemic and economic resurgence continues to grow.
