Nokia to cut over 1,200 jobs at Alcatel-Lucent

Nokia Corp. will cut 1,233 jobs at its subsidiary Alcatel-Lucent International, CFE-CGC union reported on Monday.

The layoffs, which amount to approximately a third of the French subsidiary's workforce, come following a leadership shakeup at the Finnish telecommunications company.

Nokia is one of the companies being suggested by the United States and several other countries as a substitute for Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd.'s equipment in the future 5G networks.
