Facebook policy review won't start before autumn

Facebook announced on Wednesday that its Oversight Board, tasked with reviewing the company's content material policy, will not start operating until late autumn.

"We understand many people are eager for the board to officially begin our task of providing independent oversight of Facebook's content decisions. We share this urgency, but the board won’t be operational until late fall," the board stated.

The Menlo Park-based firm introduced the independent Oversight Board to examine its content-sharing policy after numerous companies decided to halt their advertisements on its platforms due to its moderation strategy. The tech giant also received harsh criticism for allegedly allowing spreading hate speech and misinformation on the election process among its users.
