Europe starts higher with earnings in focus

Major European stock market indexes started in the green on Friday as investors are focusing on quarterly and half-year earnings from major global companies. On the data front, Eurostat will report on the gross domestic product (GDP) numbers around Europe as well as on the consumer price index.

The DAX rose 0.30% at 9:01 am CET with Wirecard AG rising 2.69%. The FTSE 100 increased by 0.37% in the first minute of trading as Natwest Group Plc increased by 1.93%. The CAC 40 was up 0.36% at 9:00 am CET. BNP Paribas was the best performer jumping 4.84% after released earnings.

The euro rose 0.46% to $1.19038 against the dollar at 8:58 am CET. The pound went up by 0.30% compared to the US currency as it went for $1.31352 at 8:59 am CET.
