Zoom Video Communications Inc. informed its users in mainland China on Monday that they will soon be able to use the company's services only through its third-party partners.

The tech firm did not provide any details, nor the reasoning behind the decision. The alteration will become fully effective on August 23, CNBC reported, citing a letter to customers it obtained. Zoom noted that its paid subscriptions have been halted in China in May, signaling a change in its direct sales policy.

Last week, United States lawmakers urged the Department of Justice to investigate the alleged links between the company and the Chinese government.
