Brazil's central bank starts WhatsApp payment tests

Brazil's Central Bank announced on Monday it has started testing payments via Facebook-owned messaging service WhatsApp.

The bank called the move an "important advance" and affirmed the trials do not involve real money.

Back in June, WhatsApp started its payment service in Brazil, but the Central Bank halted it shortly afterward over "competition, efficiency, and data privacy" concerns. Both parties later agreed to work together and try to resolve the issue.
