The number of jobs in the private sector in the United States went up by 167,000 in July, decreasing significantly to the 2.3 million recorded in June and performing below expectations, the Automatic Data Processing's (ADP) National Employment Report published on Wednesday revealed.

Large companies lead the way with 129,000 employments made in July, contrary to the last month, followed by small businesses with 63,000 jobs added. On the other hand, 25,000 positions in medium businesses were lost. Among the sectors, services added 166,000 jobs last month, with professional business and administrative support services hiring the most.

"The labor market recovery slowed in the month of July," Vice President and Co-Head of the ADP Research Institute Ahu Yildirmaz said. "We have seen the slowdown impact businesses across all sizes and sectors."
