FB appeals Ireland's move to restrict data transfer

Facebook Inc. announced on Friday it started legal action against preliminary order by Ireland's Data Protection Commission to curb its data transfers from Europe to the United States.

The social media behemoth said it urged the judicial review of the data commission’s process because the "regulator issued an initial conclusion before receiving regulatory guidance from a body representing all European Union privacy regulators."

The company added that "a lack of safe, secure and legal international data transfers would have damaging consequences for the European economy."
