Facebook announced that it is looking to achieve net-zero carbon emissions for its value chain in 2030 as it set new goals on climate change. The company said it was prepared to commit to the Paris Agreement and limit global warming by being completely reliant on renewable energy sources.

Additionally, the social media giant said it was launching a Climate Science Information Center to provide its users with "factual and up-to-date climate information." Facebook added that it was modeling the center on its COVID-19 pandemic fact-checking response.

"Climate change is a crisis we will only be able to address if we all work together on a global scale. We are taking important steps to reduce our emissions and arm our global community with science-based information to make informed decisions and tools to take action," the company said in a press release.
