Paris court orders Google to negotiate news revenue

Thursday, 08. October 2020 10:21

The Court of Appeal of Paris stated on Thursday that Google LLC has to negotiate news revenues with media publishers, confirming the decision previously brought by France's competition regulator.

Following the move, Google has become the first company that will have to pay some media groups for digital copyright in the European Union.

Previously, the tech giant refused to compensate the press for its content displayed on Google's search engine, saying it will be shown in search results on the condition that it can be used for free.
