US markets start higher amid stimulus talks gossip

Major stock market indexes in the United States opened higher on Friday as investors paid attention to reports that President Donald Trump wants a stimulus deal with the Democrats despite initially putting an end to the negotiations. Meanwhile, some pandemic fears were eased before the bell as Gilead announced it will have enough supply of remdesivir by November.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.40% in the first minute of trading. Dow Inc. led the index higher as it gained 1.15% at 9:32 am ET. The Nasdaq 100 was up by 0.58% at 9 am ET as Xilinx soared 16% at 9:34 am ET. The S&P 500 was 0.49% higher at 9 am ET as technology and healthcare stocks performed well.

The euro gained 0.46% compared to the dollar, going for 1.18142 at 9:32 am ET.
