Liberty Steel Group announced on Friday that it made a non-binding indicative offer to acquire ThyssenKrupp's steel business.

"LIBERTY Steel is convinced that a combination with ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe can be the right answer from an economic, social, and environmental perspective," Liberty said in a statement.

The company pointed out it has held talks with ThyssenKrupp on "a non-exclusive basis" and there is still no guarantee an acquisition agreement will be reached. Meanwhile, ThyssenKrupp confirmed it is considering the offer but noted it will also look at other potential buyers.
