DoJ to file antitrust lawsuit against Google - report

United States Department of Justice (DoJ) is expected to file a lawsuit against Google LLC on Tuesday on the grounds of "anticompetitive conduct to preserve monopolies in search and search-advertising," the Wall Street Journal reported.

According to unnamed senior DoJ officials, the lawsuit will claim that Google "is maintaining its status as gatekeeper to the internet through an unlawful web of exclusionary and interlocking business agreements that shut out competitors." It will also allege that the tech giant pays phone manufacturers, carriers and browsers to keep its search engine as the default. In a related point, the DoJ will take issue with the fact that Google's search application cannot be deleted from phones running its Android operating system.
