Dow crashes 840 points as COVID-19 cases soar

Stocks on Wall Street extended losses on Monday with the Dow Jones plummeting nearly 850 points amid worries about a surge in COVID-19 cases in the country. Furthermore, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows warned the US will not be able to "control the pandemic" but is "making efforts to contain it."

The Dow Jones slid 2.91% at 12:52 pm ET as American Express, Boeing, Salesforce and Honeywell all fell over 4%.

The Nasdaq 100 plunged 2.22% at 12:53 pm ET. The worst performer was Ulta Beauty, whose shares crashed 7.49% at 12:55 pm ET.

The S&P 500 dropped 2.35% at 12:54 pm ET. Royal Caribbean led the losses, tumbling 13.20% at 12:56 pm ET.
