Netflix increases subscription prices in US

Netflix Inc. increased the prices of its subscription packages in the United States on Thursday, pushing its standard plan to $14 per month and its premium service to $18 a month. The prices have been increased by $1 and $2 per month, respectively.

According to The Verge, new subscribers will have to pay the new prices starting from today, while current users will receive updated bills over the next few weeks. However, Netflix told the outlet that today's price adjustment "does not influence or indicate a global price change."

Netflix has been expanding its annual budget each year over the last seven-year period, and has spent a remarking $18.5 billion in 2020. The company's stocks rose 5.05% to sell for $511.11 per share at 3:20 pm ET, following the news.
