Report: States, feds to bring FB antitrust charges

State and federal investigators are set to bring forth antitrust charges against tech giant Facebook over the company's acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp, the Washington Post reported on Thursday citing sources familiar with the plans.

According to the report, investigators feel Facebook's control over the two apps has led to an anti-competitive environment, while users also enjoy fewer privacy protections as the social media giant integrated user data with its other services. Additionally, Facebook might be using massive amounts of users' data to overpower potential rivals. At the moment, investigators have not yet finalized any charges, the sources added.

Earlier this week, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified on Capitol Hill, during which he was grilled by lawmakers over a whistleblower complaint that the company coordinates with Twitter and Google on content moderation.
