FB repays advertisers over 'conversion lift' glitch

Facebook, Inc. said on Thursday it will compensate some advertisers over a technical issue related to its "conversion lift" tool that affected some ads between August 2019 and August 2020. The tech giant is set to offer a "one-time credit" to a "small number" of advertisers that were "meaningfully affected" by the data miscalculation.

The tool, which was designed to help users realize the effectiveness of ads on Facebook's social media platforms as well as expected conversion rates for advertised products and services, was fixed in September.

"While making improvements to our measurement products, we found a technical issue that impacted some conversion lift tests. We’ve fixed this and are working with advertisers that have impacted studies," a spokesperson for the company told CNBC.
