British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stated on Wednesday Home Secretary Priti Patel would present the government's new, stricter border rules for "those red-list countries where we are particularly concerned about new variants [of COVID-19]" this afternoon.

"We have one of the toughest regimes in the world. We ask people to test 72 hours before they fly. They have to produce a passenger locator form. Otherwise, they can be kicked off the flight. They already have to quarantine for 10 days," Johnson pointed out to the House of Commons.

Earlier in the day, Shadow Secretary for Health and Social Care Jonathan Ashworth called for stricter border control to curb the further spread of coronavirus.
