Shares on Wall Street traded with gains during the premarket session on Wednesday as Joe Biden's inauguration dominated the news.

Biden is set to succeed Donald Trump as president of the United States later in the day following a scaled-back inauguration ceremony that will be heavily guarded in light of the January 6 Capitol riots. Meanwhile, Trump is expected to leave Washington, DC prior to the swearing-in ceremony after holding a farewell event at Joint Base Andrews.

The Dow Jones was up 53 points or 0.17% at 4:30 am ET. At the same time, the S&P 500 climbed 0.30% while the Nasdaq 100 jumped 0.61%.
